Weaves provide us with flexibility and unique style for our hair but let's keep our own hair and scalp healthy at same time. These are some helpful healthy weave tips to reduce your risk of hair loss and skin irritations.

1. DON'T be fast and harsh when removing your honded/glued in weave. This can result in patches of alopecia or hair loss in areas where hair was

pulled out. Use the proper hair glue removal, simply saturate your hair with olive oil to gently remove hairpieces once glue is loosened or better yet, get it removed by careful stylist.

2. DO watch for any scalp or skin reactions from the glue, especially if you wear lace-front wigs which can affect forehead/face. Because the glue is an adhesive that contains harsh chemicals , it can cause possible irritant reactions (ex. redness or burning) or even allergic reactions (ex. redness, itchy) on your scalp, skin or throughout scalp within minutes of where glue was applied, immediately carefully take off the lace front wig or glued on the hair pieces with olive oil to avoid any more reactions. Carefully clean areas with a mild shampoo and then apply an over the counter llydrocortisone ointment 2-3 times a day to all affected skin/scalp areas. Consider Benadryl if any itching, consult a doctor for clinical evaluation to avoid further skin, scalp or hair damage and no more glue...sew-in weaves or regular wigs only!

3. DON'T get hair braided tight if you have a sew-in weave! If tight, this signals that your nerves are activated which can possibly cause damage to your hair roots leading to tension alopecia (hair comes out where the braid was too tight). If left tight, there is a high risk of possible scarring of your hair roots in the affected areas causing permanent hair loss. Please tell your stylist right away if it feels tight so they can re-do asap!!!

4. DO get your hair roots stimulated while wearing your weave, especially if you have hair thinning or hair loss. We commonly have hair loss in lop crown called folllcular degeneration syndrome' where your hair roots don't work. Topical creams, greases or lotions can't get through scalp to work so definitely check out the BellaNutri hair supplement that works specifically on the inside of your scalp to get your hair roots on track and get your hair growing using well-researched nutrients. You will have decreased hair shedding, less hair breakage, thicker. longer and healthier hair from within as early as 2 months.

5. DO give your scalp and hair roots at least a month break before getting another weave. This will allow your hair roots to relax. If get a sew-in weave, suggest that they re-braid in different direction than before to reduce further tension on your hair roots.

6. DO wash your hair every week or as often as you can based on your type of weave. But in-between new weaves, get a thorough shampoo. If you have any scalp dryness or itching, this indicates a normal yeast thai can grow on your scalp called seborrheic dermatitis'. Pick up a medicated dandruff shampoo, leave on scalp for 15 min then wash out with favorite shampoo. Repeat once a week until clear. If not better, seek a dermatologist evaluation.

7. DO a 30 minute deep conditioner moist heat treatment to hair and scalp in-between weaves. Check out the new patented cordless BellaNutri Hair Therapy Wrap that provides moist heat to allow your favorite conditioners/ hot oils to penetrate better and yield healthier hair and scalp much more effectively than the dryer heat. Heats in microwave for I minute and treats for 30 minutes!!!
