Take 1 teaspoonful of each : Castor oil, Am la or Brahmi oil, malt vinegar, glycerine and any mild shampoo. Mix them all to get your desired hair conditioner. While the castor oil would give your hair the body, herbal oil the healthy diet, vinegar works as the catalyst to restore acid mantle, glycerine the much needed moisturising effect and shampoo would play the role of the carrier that takes the other ingredient to their destination. Before washing your hair apply this mixture to the hair gently and leave it for about 20 minutes. Then during both shampoo it out with clear water (lukewarm in winters) to see your hair almost transmogrified in a trice.

Given below the formula of making a hair conditioner for making your hair more shiny and covered with a lustrous sheen. Since this contains onions, may be some of you might not relish the offensive but lingering odour of it but that it is very effective on hair is beyond doubt. (a) In case your hair is oily, mix 2 tablespoon of yoghurt (or plain curd) and a pinch of sugar to a light paste. Add little water if the paste is thick. Apply it on the hair and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse it out with clear water. Shampooing is not recommended. In case you find the smell of yoghurt unbearable, you may use a very mild shampoo to clean your hair, (b) For dry hair: mix henna in a tablespoon of oil (preferably odourless non sticky coconut oil) and enough warm milk to make a homogenious paste. Apply and leave it for 20 minutes. Then rinse it out later.

The henna included in it gives hair also a shiny tan. However those who are susceptible to cold should avoid using the yoghurt conditioner in bitter winters. In that time yoghurt may be replaced by malt vinegar.

Apart from these, you can also use a hairconditioner detailed below for only setting your hair. Just take teaspoon of gelatin easily procurable from the market, in a mug of water. Rinse your hair with it. Dry your hair and set them as you want.

Of course there are many hair conditioners that are available in the market but see to it which suits you most by trial and error method. In doing so the testing time may be reduced to 5 minutes. Instead of otherwise prescribed 20 minutes. However, our recommendation is that you stick to the home made ones.
